Nephew of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) Prophet Lot, is often linked to the story of the homosexual community. His legend is seen famous for some, notorious for others.

Mentioned 17 times in the Qur'an, Prophet Lot is recorded having join Prophet Abraham when he first declares himself a prophet. After immigrating outside their hometown in ... Lot declares his wish to travel towards Palestine with his family. Wishes granted, Prophet Lot, would be settling South of the Dead Sea, near Sodom and Gomorrah.

Upon arrival Prophet Lot, his two daughters and wife, encounter a community that practices lust towards a person of the same sex. Outraged by this attitude, he begins his call"And Lot, when he said to his people: "You commit sodomy which none has preceded you in committing it in mankind and jinn. Verily, you practise sodomy with men, and rob the travelers! And practice disbelief and polytheism (al-Munkar) in your meetings." As in previous prophetic stories, his call was not accepted "But his people gave no answer except that they said: "Bring Allah's torment upon us if you are one of the truthful."  Prophet Lot remain patient until a revelation would come to him. In the meanwhile: "Our messengers came to Ibrahim with the glad tidings they said: "Verily, we are going to destroy the people of this (Lot's) town truly, its people have been Zalimun (wrong does) Ibrahim said: 'But there is Lot in it." They said: "We know better who is there. We will verily save him and his family - except his wife, she will be of those remain behind." Once Abraham was informed of Lot's community destiny. The messengers traveled to the Dead Sea, when they arrived, Lot invited the messengers to his home and they professe their message "They said: Have no fear, and do not grieve! Truly, we shall save you and your family, - except your wife, she will be of those who remain behind. Verily, we are about to bring down on the people of this town a great torment from the sky, because they have been rebellious"  29: 28-35 The next morning: Then afterwards We destroyed the others. And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned! 26:170-175 / So as-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them at the time of sunrise. And we turned (the towns) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. Prophet Lot will take refuge with his two daughters in a cave in the highland of nowadays Jordan. The cave is surrounded by a ruin church which is now an open museum linked with the museum 'The lowest point on Earth'. Allah mention the saveguard of those sites as a sign of his warnings and his calls for a righteous path. 'And verily, they (the towns) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria (i.e. the place where the Dead Sia is now). Surely therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 15: 70-77.
